Job summary

Fluence Energy, LLC in the United States seeks a Controls & SCADA Engineer to strengthen its Americas engineering team. You will design, develop, and deploy controls, SCADA, and industrial networking solutions for next-generation battery energy storage systems and utility-scale plants.

You will own specifications, testing, and startup of Fluence OS, EMS, PLCs, HMIs, data collectors, and OPC mappings, coordinating with EPC partners and internal teams to deliver high-quality deployments.

Qualifications

7+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting Controls, Communications, Network, and SCADA systems.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
Strong PLC/HMI development experience for renewable energy or utility-scale power applications.
Deep knowledge of power plant control systems, SCADA development, data acquisition, and EMS/PCS integration.
Experience with industrial protocols: IEC 60870-5-101/103/104, IEC 61850 MMS, DNP3, Modbus, OPC UA.
Willingness to travel up to 30% and work across multiple projects.

Responsibilities

Serve as primary technical authority for controls, SCADA, and network across full project lifecycle.
Own specification, design, testing, and startup of Fluence OS (FOS) controls and network solutions (EMS, PLCs, HMIs, data collectors, OPC).
Develop and maintain controls architecture and integration strategies for BESS functionality.
Define and execute FAT/SAT strategies with cross-functional teams to minimize commissioning risk.
Coordinate with EPC partners, electrical, network, and deployment teams to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
