Job summary

PrimECS in the Mid-Atlantic is seeking a Controller / Finance Manager to build and own the finance function for a growing construction/engineering firm. This part-time, remote role (20–30 hours/week) reports to the President and collaborates with project managers, operations, and the CPA to deliver reliable financial reporting, forecasting, and cash management.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
5+ years of progressive experience in financial management, construction accounting, project accounting, or related industries.
Experience building or improving finance functions; not simply maintaining accounting processes.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Experience with Procore or similar construction/project management software is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Own the monthly financial close process.
Prepare accurate financial statements: P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, and project-related reports.
Review and improve chart of accounts across divisions.
Monitor project costs, labor coding, subcontractor costs, and overhead allocation.
Develop and maintain rolling cash forecasts and assist with annual budgets.
Coordinate with CPA and support tax preparation and audits.
Create executive dashboards for leadership.
