Job summary

UNC Health, via UNC Clinical Research Partners, seeks a Contracts Officer to review, draft, negotiate, and execute agreements between CRP and industry sponsors. You will collaborate with CRP’s Contracts Counsel to ensure timely, compliant contracting for UNC Chapel Hill and UNC Health.

You will help refine templates, templates, and workflows to shorten start-up times for industry-sponsored trials while maintaining high standards of legal and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree required.
• Active North Carolina State Bar membership required.
• Minimum three (3) years of transactional legal experience in academia or clinical research setting.
• Experience negotiating contracts with public entities or larger organizations.
• Knowledge of data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, HITECH) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review, draft, negotiate, and execute confidential disclosure agreements, clinical trial agreements, and other related legal agreements between CRP and non-federal research sponsors.
• Triage, manage, and resolve issues arising in contract negotiations with time constraints.
• Contribute to CRP’s contract negotiation playbook and master agreement templates.
• Serve as the point of contact for industry sponsors regarding CRP clinical research agreements.
• Develop policies and workflows to ensure efficient negotiation and administration of clinical trial agreements.
• Refine contracting processes to improve trial start-up times.
• Collaborate with UNC and UNC Health contracting teams for unified approaches.
