Job summary

Comgent is seeking a Resident Network Engineer to support service-provider production networks. You will combine hands-on Junos troubleshooting with design validation, network health reviews and operational guidance for customers. This is a freelance/contract role with remote work and a 12-month initial assignment.

Qualifications

• 6–10 years of experience in network engineering preferred.
• Expertise in Junos CLI, TCP/IP, MPLS, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP and related protocols.
• Familiar with Ansible, YAML, PyEZ and Python scripting.
• Knowledge of MX/PTX/ACX hardware platforms.
• Engineering or CS degree or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Investigate network faults and manage vendor support cases to resolution.
• Lead workshops to understand designs and discuss proposed solutions.
• Assess network health and advise on configurations and features.
• Develop procedures, standards and implementation plans for production services.
• Produce reports on design work, issues, and workarounds.
• Train customer teams and share lessons to mitigate upgrade risks.
