Job summary

PASTELLA BURNS is a premier luxury design-build firm seeking a Construction Controller. The role is remote and requires residential construction accounting experience. You will manage all company and project finances, including AP, job-costing, reporting, and internal controls.

The successful candidate will oversee contract-backed invoices, ensure timely payments, and prepare monthly client reports. This position offers entrepreneurial growth and access to ownership in a fast-paced construction

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–7 years of accounting, controllership, or financial-management experience.
• Significant accounting experience within residential construction.
• Understanding of subcontractor agreements, change orders, progress payments, and project budgets.
• Experience managing accounts payable and monthly account reconciliations.
• CPA or CMA designation is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all company and project financial activity is entered accurately and promptly in QuickBooks.
• Manage accounts payable and process prompt payments to subcontractors, vendors, and consultants.
• Accurately assign all invoices and expenses to the correct project and cost category.
• Review invoices against executed contracts, approved proposals, change orders, and prior payments.
• Verifythat billed work has been completed and does not exceed contracted amounts.
• Resolve billing discrepancies with subcontractors and vendors.
• Track project budgets, subcontract commitments, change orders, invoices, payments, and remaining contract balances.
• Maintain organized records of contracts, invoices, approvals, payments, lien waivers, and vendor documentation.
