Job summary

The Conservation Analytics Biologist at Catalina Island Conservancy combines field-based ecological knowledge with quantitative methods to inform conservation decisions. You will design and manage spatial datasets, build models, and communicate findings to scientists and managers.

Based in our Long Beach office with a flexible remote schedule and occasional ferry trips to Catalina Island, you will collaborate across departments, mentor staff, and contribute to publications and grant reporting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, computer science, environmental science, natural resources, geography, ecology, or related natural sciences required.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in conservation, project management, natural resource managing, planning or related fields.
• Experience presenting project results and spatial data in oral, graphic, or written formats.

Responsibilities

• Design data workflows for field, telemetry, camera-trap, acoustic, remote-sensing data.
• Develop statistical and spatial models to guide conservation strategy.
• Build and maintain databases, dashboards, and reproducible analysis pipelines for internal and partner use.
• Translate analytical findings into clear, actionable reports, maps, and visualizations for scientists, land managers, and non-technical stakeholders.
