Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center seeks a part-time Temporary Community Outreach Specialist/Community Health Worker to expand cancer prevention education and community engagement within designated Texas counties. The role is remote with regular local travel, about 10 hours per month, for educational activities and outreach events.

The assignment length is 1 year, with potential extension based on performance and need.

Qualifications

Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work independently in remote, community-based settings.
Basic computer, virtual communication, and data-entry skills.
Ability to travel within assigned service area and occasionally evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

Deliver cancer prevention and health education presentations within the service area.
Identify opportunities for education/outreach and connect with COE staff.
Represent COE at community events, meetings, and health fairs.
Maintain documentation of contacts, activities, and metrics.
Participate virtually in COE meetings and stay familiar with programs and referrals.
Work occasional evenings and weekends; perform related duties as needed.
