Job summary

BGIS is seeking a Commissioning Agent for remote engagement in the United States with extensive travel. You will commission critical electrical and mechanical systems, develop startup procedures, and ensure QA/QC during installation.

Strong diagnostic, communication, and AutoCAD skills are required; passport and air travel readiness are essential. The role demands 75% travel, including visits to client sites nationwide and internationally, with remote coordination.

Qualifications

• 7 years of industry experience in electrical power distribution or mechanical systems
• AA degree, military training or equivalent work experience
• Experience in diagnosing and solving construction and operational problems
• Be organized; possess excellent written and oral communication skills
• Experience with MS Word and Excel
• Ability to work in a high-stress environment; multi-task and meet deadlines
• Knowledge of building codes and construction industry standards
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD
• Must have or be able to obtain a passport
• Five years of commissioning field experience including performance contracting
• Proficiency in BCA, PECI, and/or ASHRAE commissioning procedures
• Experience in hospital, biotech, data center, or energy analysis preferred
• Ability and willingness to travel 75% of the time
• Provide personal transportation for meetings and job visits; reimbursement

Responsibilities

• Perform design reviews of systems
• Develop, oversee and write startup and commissioning policies and procedures
• QA/QC of the equipment installation
• Perform construction observations and develop functional test plans
• Execute tests for electrical and mechanical systems following standards
• Assist in training plant operations and maintenance personnel
• Liaise with vendors and subcontractors for problem resolution and testing
• Review data and prepare technical reports
• Communicate effectively with clients, contractors and project teams
• Manage small to mid-size projects to meet client expectations for technical excellence, budget and schedule
• Perform other duties as assigned
