Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma and completion of an approved coding program or HIM degree.
• Two years of acute care coding experience; physician office coding experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology; proficient coding skill set across ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT/HCPCS, E/M.
• Must maintain coding credentials and demonstrate proficiency with coding software.

Responsibilities

• Code and review charges for ED, SDS, OPC, OBS, and inpatient OB/newborn encounters.
• Assign diagnosis and procedure codes per CMS requirements for professional and hospital billing.
• Strive for 95% accuracy in quality reviews and maintain productivity standards.
• Mentor and supervise other coders to ensure coding integrity and compliance.
