Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Coding Quality Reviewer and Educator to audit professional coding and medical records across a multispecialty ambulatory environment. You will validate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes, ensure services are supported and compliant, and document findings in an audit-defensible format.

You will develop and deliver targeted education to coders, providers, and clinical departments to improve documentation and revenue integrity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CPC or CCS/CCS-P certification required.
• Minimum five years of professional coding experience.
• Prior coding audit and provider education experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform prospective and retrospective audits of professional coding and medical records.
• Validate ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS and modifier assignments.
• Ensure services billed are supported, medically necessary, and compliant with CMS, payer policies, and organizational standards.
• Document audit findings in a clear, objective, audit-defensible format.
• Develop and deliver targeted education to coders, providers, and clinical departments.
• Track and trend audit results to identify systemic risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Stay current on coding updates, certification requirements, and guidelines.
