Job summary

Allstate is seeking a Cloud Services Lead Software Engineer to architect and deliver scalable backend services in a fully remote U.S. setting. You’ll design RESTful APIs with Java Spring Boot, lead CI/CD pipelines, and guide production systems through incidents and outages.

Expect strong collaboration with product teams and peers to ensure KPI-driven success. The role emphasizes microservices, cloud deployment, and security, with extensive experience in backend engineering and TDD.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience in cloud-based environments.
• Experience designing and delivering large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong Java/Spring Boot background with REST API exposure.
• Solid understanding of microservices, containers, and orchestration.
• Proficient in TDD, unit/integration tests, and CI/CD processes.
• Experience with web security (OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML).
• Hands-on with Git-based version control and modern build tools.
• Experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms and deployment in production.
• Strong problem-solving skills and knowledge of monitoring/telemetry (Splunk, Datadog, CloudWatch).
• Experience in an XP/Agile environment with pairing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design software using modern tools and frameworks.
• Own production of digital products and oversee KPI achievement.
• Lead inceptions and planning with product managers and cross-team stakeholders.
• Drive CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment strategies.
• Provide system design leadership and architecture guidance.
• Monitor, diagnose, and respond to production incidents and outages.
