Job summary

CAI is seeking a motivated Cloud Security Analyst Intern to support evaluating, securing, monitoring, and improving a simulated AWS environment for a client engagement. This part-time, remote internship focuses on IAM, EC2/VPC security, CloudTrail/GuardDuty, and developing runbooks, deliverables, and an executive summary for leadership.

The role emphasizes hands-on security assessments, documentation, and collaboration with a supervising mentor to advance professional development in cloud

Qualifications

• Foundational knowledge of cybersecurity principles.
• Understanding of cloud computing concepts and AWS services.
• Strong written communication and documentation skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities; remote work capability.
• Access to a reliable computer and internet connection.

Responsibilities

• Perform IAM and access control audits within a simulated AWS environment.
• Conduct compute and network security assessments involving EC2, VPCs, and security groups.
• Analyze cloud detection and monitoring capabilities using CloudTrail, GuardDuty, and AWS Config.
• Identify security findings and implement remediation for identity and network gaps.
• Configure data protection controls, key management, and automated guardrails.
• Develop monitoring, alerting, and incident response readiness processes with runbooks.
• Participate in incident response exercises and incident replay activities.
• Create a governance catalog mapped to the NIST CSF.
• Produce weekly written deliverables with findings and remediation efforts.
• Deliver a final capstone engagement report and executive summary for leadership.
