Job summary

CentralSquare Technologies is seeking an entry-level Cloud Release Engineer I to join a mission-driven team serving North America’s public sector. This remote role collaborates with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Support to deliver secure upgrades and patches across customer environments.

You will learn cloud release processes, CI/CD tooling, and upgrade playbooks while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced, impact-focused company that values growth and public service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in CS or related field.
• 1–2 years of professional Linux, Python, SQL, and Git experience.
• Familiarity with upgrade, patching, or release processes.
• Familiarity with Agile and DevOps practices.
• Basic knowledge of Ansible.
• Basic knowledge of Terraform.
• Basic knowledge of version control workflows.
• Willingness to learn automation-first mindset.
• Basic build and CI/CD automation knowledge.
• Basic familiarity with AWS.
• Basic understanding of networking and database concepts.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform software upgrades and patches in customer-facing and internal environments, following established procedures.
• Review release notes, validating environment readiness, and confirming pre-upgrade checklists.
• Execute post-upgrade validation and testing to confirm the upgrade was successful, and upscale issues promptly.
• Support rollback procedures when an upgrade does not go as planned.
• Coordinate upgrade schedules and communicate status to internal teams and customers, with guidance from senior team members.
• Assist with application and infrastructure deployments to customer-facing and internal environments.
• Apply security patches to internal and external systems following established procedures.
• Help create and maintain accurate documentation of upgrade procedures, runbooks, systems, and processes.
• Support the migration of existing server environments to managed services and/or cloud-based platforms.
• Communicate professionally and positively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Work with cross-functional teams to help resolve issues, applying critical thinking and learning best practices.
• Learn customer priorities in upgrade and deployment work and share relevant feedback with senior team members.
• Troubleshoot and debug build and upgrade issues, resolving problems quickly and asking for help when needed.
• Assist in maintaining tooling that supports cloud-based CI/CD pipelines and upgrade automation.
• Raise project obstacles to the team promptly and help work toward solutions.
• Participate in cross-team knowledge sharing and develop technical skills through mentorship, training, and hands-on project work.
