Job summary

Index Analytics, LLC is seeking a Database Engineer to design, administer and optimize cloud-based database services for a federal data warehouse. You will work with Data Engineers, Cloud Architects and DevSecOps to manage Snowflake, PostgreSQL and AWS-based services, implementing security, automation and governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related discipline and at least eight (8) years of relevant experience, or equivalent specialized experience.
• Hands-on database engineering or administration experience with Snowflake and SQL.
• Experience with AWS cloud services and production database environments.
• Experience with performance analysis, query tuning, sizing and cost optimization.
• Experience with Python automation, access controls and database CI/CD.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain database schemas and data models for structured and semi-structured data.
• Administer Snowflake and PostgreSQL environments, including RBAC and security.
• Develop and deploy DDL and database changes through CI/CD and change-management processes.
• Write and optimize SQL; monitor performance, workload utilization, storage and cost.
• Develop Python scripts and infrastructure-as-code components to automate tasks.
• Support integration with AWS services such as S3, Secrets Manager and Lambda.
• Implement database security, encryption, retention, backup and recovery controls.
• Troubleshoot production issues and document root causes.
• Maintain architecture docs and runbooks.
