Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a Research Billing Coordinator to review patient accounts against protocols and contracts, ensuring charges relate to the study are billed correctly. You will collaborate with registration, coding, and billing teams to identify research patients and process claims for monthly study services.

The role requires attention to detail, organization, and a strong customer-service focus, with experience in Epic/Cerner/STAR preferred and a commitment to confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Two years in healthcare finance or revenue cycle operations.
• Two or more years in clinical research (preferred).
• Experience with medical terminology and/or medical coding (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Reviews daily reports of research subject registrations and matches to encounters.
• Reviews charges, budget, protocol, and consent to determine billable items.
• Coordinates with billing and researchers to ensure proper coding and AR follow-up.
• Builds research records in Epic, Cerner, STAR as needed to support billing.
• Maintains HIPAA confidentiality and follows safety standards.
