Qualifications

• Requires CCDS or CDI certification (CCDS or DIP).
• Current licensed RN, medical provider or equivalent.
• Three years of clinical experience; two years in clinical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates patient medical records for illness specificity and documentation accuracy.
• Performs coding and DRG assignment; enters review activity into tracking software.
• Formulates physician queries and follows up on incomplete queries while patient is in-house.
• Keeps abreast of regulatory changes in documentation and coding, ensuring compliance.
• Acts as liaison between medical staff and coding department to ensure accurate clinical information.
