Job summary
Federal Highway Administration in the Central Federal Lands Highway Division seeks a Civil Engineer (Construction) Project Engineer to supervise on-site construction contracts for multi-state projects on federal lands.
You will ensure compliance with plans and specifications, provide engineering guidance to contractors, and manage project documentation, schedules, and communication with client agencies and local officials.
Qualifications
- ABET-accredited engineering program leading to a bachelor’s degree.
- Combination of education and experience with EI/EIT or PE licensure as eligible.
- Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or equivalent.
- At least 60 semester hours of courses in physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences.
- Related curriculum may be accepted with at least 1 year of professional engineering experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide on-site administration of construction contracts and ensure conformance with plans and specs.
- Oversee materials testing, schedules, progress estimates, surveys, traffic control, and environmental controls.
- Prepare contract modifications and negotiate with contractors as needed.
- Develop independent government estimates and coordinate with various stakeholders to resolve issues.
