Job summary

Leidos is seeking a CAD Operator to support environmental investigations, remediation activities, engineering design, construction, and site restoration for government clients. The successful candidate will prepare and revise complex drawings, figures, maps, and other deliverables using AutoCAD/Civil 3D, translating field data and engineering concepts into accurate project drawings.

Qualifications

• An associate’s degree or technical certification in drafting, CAD, Civil Engineering Technology or related discipline with 5+ years experience using CAD software.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, sketches, field notes, survey information, and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of standard drafting practices, including drawing organization, layers, scales, dimensions, annotations, symbols, and reference files.
• Ability to produce accurate work while managing multiple assignments and deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with engineers, scientists, technical staff, field teams, and project managers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to meet applicable government client and/or project site access requirements.

Responsibilities

• Use AutoCAD/Civil 3D to produce detailed drawings, plans, and profiles such as site plans, remediation system layouts, utility drawings, excavation and grading plans, erosion control, cross-sections, and as-built drawings.
• Prepare, revise and maintain AutoCAD/Civil 3D drawings, figures, maps, and technical graphics for environmental projects.
• Convert sketches, field notes, survey information, GIS data, and historical drawings into accurate CAD drawings.
• Incorporate geospatial, survey, and project data into CAD drawings as required.
• Maintain drawing files, templates, layers, blocks, reference files, and CAD standards per project/client requirements.
• Perform quality checks for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with drafting standards.
• Coordinate with engineers, scientists, project managers, GIS personnel, surveyors, and field teams to verify information for deliverables.
• Assist with organization and maintenance of project drawing libraries and records.
• Support multiple projects and priorities while meeting schedules, budgets, and deadlines.
