Job summary

LanguageLine Solutions is seeking a Chin Matu-English telephone interpreter to work from home in the United States as an independent contractor. The role involves on-demand interpretation across multiple industries and does not include written translation.

Training is provided and there are opportunities for advancement and support from senior staff. Qualified candidates must be fluent in Chin Matu and English, be at least 18, and legally authorized to work in the United States.

Qualifications

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Respond to interpreting sessions promptly and professionally.
• Render accurate concepts and meanings between Chin Matu and English.
• Speak clearly in both languages with correct pronunciation and polite expressions.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and demonstrate cultural sensitivity.
• Remain calm during sessions, including emergencies and high-stress calls.
• Maintain punctuality and availability during work hours.
• Follow client instructions and interpretation protocol to meet expectations.
• Understand terminology across healthcare, government, insurance, finance and law.
