Job summary

OpenTrain AI is seeking a CFD AI Task Designer to create compact, self-contained engineering challenges for training and evaluating AI models. You will develop problems involving boundary-condition selection, mesh quality assessment, flow-regime identification, and simulation setup, then support each task with deterministic evaluation and a verified solution.

This is a remote, part-time freelance contractor position for candidates in the United States.

Qualifications

• Hands-on CFD experience with OpenFOAM
• Strong written communication to explain complex physics clearly
• Background in aerospace or mechanical engineering, or closely related discipline
• Bachelor's degree or higher preferred, in a relevant field
• Ability to formulate precise, self-contained, and verifiable engineering problems

Responsibilities

• Design CFD and aerodynamics tasks that test AI engineering reasoning
• Write clear, unambiguous problem statements across a range of topics
• Develop deterministic scoring checkers that automatically evaluate final answers
• Provide trusted reference solutions confirming each task is solvable
• Review and iterate on tasks for physical accuracy, clarity, and difficulty
• Ground task design in real-world OpenFOAM practice
• Work independently and asynchronously on your own schedule
