Job summary

Universal Health Services is seeking a Certified Coder to join the Central Appeals Office on a fully remote basis. The role focuses on accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS coding for inpatient and outpatient accounts, adhering to UHS policies and coding guidelines, and coordinating with facility HIM staff on documentation and queries.

The ideal candidate will have RHIT/RHIA/CCS/CPC credentials, 1–3 years of coding experience, and proficiency with MS4 and 3M Encoder.

Qualifications

• RHIT, RHIA, CCS or CPC certification required.
• Graduation from a certified coding program required.
• 1–3 years related experience required.
• Knowledge of MS4 and 3M; experience with EMR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Code diagnoses and procedures for inpatient and outpatient accounts.
• Review medical records to assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes.
• Query physicians when documentation is inadequate or unclear.
• Abstract and log coding data; communicate with facility HIM staff.
• Maintain confidentiality and stay current with coding trainings.
