Job summary

The University of Minnesota School of Nursing is seeking an experienced Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Specialist – RN for a fully remote role supporting a major healthcare organization. You will conduct concurrent reviews, develop compliant physician queries, and help ensure accurate documentation for patient severity and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Active RN license required.
• BSN preferred.
• CDDS/CDIP certification preferred.
• Strong understanding of clinical documentation integrity principles.

Responsibilities

• Perform concurrent reviews of inpatient medical records to identify documentation opportunities.
• Evaluate clinical documentation for completeness, specificity, and accuracy.
• Develop and issue compliant physician queries to clarify documentation when appropriate.
• Collaborate with providers and care teams to improve documentation quality.
• Ensure documentation reflects patient severity of illness, risk of mortality, and quality metrics.
• Maintain productivity standards with daily chart reviews and follow-up.
• Monitor and report CDI performance metrics and requirements.
• Stay current with coding regulations and documentation best practices.
• Participate in team meetings and process improvement initiatives.
