Job summary

The role involves reviewing records, coding and abstracting for billing and reporting, and mentoring newer coders in collaboration with the Coding Management Team.

Qualifications

• CCS credential required.
• College degree in Health Information Management or AHIMA Approved Certificate Program.
• One year of coding experience in an acute care setting is required.
• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Technology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and interprets patient records to assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes
• Performs coding and abstracting tasks to support accurate billing and statistical reporting
• Mentors newer coders and collaborates with the Coding Management Team for accurate code assignment
