Job summary

NMS seeks a remote head cook to manage kitchen staff at a Schlumberger North Slope remote camp. You will lead a team, train staff, and ensure safe, high-quality food service in challenging Arctic conditions. Camp life requires long shifts and dormitory housing.

The role emphasizes safety, supervision, and efficient food production in a remote environment, with rotation and travel to remote locations as required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED supplemented by formal training or equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years of directly related restaurant cooking with supervisory experience.
• Ability to instruct/train others and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
• Alaska Food Workers Card and/or ServSafe Certification required on hire.
• Must pass pre-employment requirements including drug test, physical, fit-for-duty and hearing tests.
• Must be able to work 12-hour shifts and live in dormitory housing at a remote camp.
• English reading/writing/speaking required; comply with safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Select and develop recipes based on type of food and apply knowledge in cooking.
• Cook according to recipes and prepare meats, sauces, vegetables, soups and other foods.
• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of work areas.
• Lead and train assigned staff; ensure safety policies are followed.
• Coordinate safety meetings and report hazards; support safety goals.
• Supervise up to 30 on-site staff in a remote camp environment.
• Notify supervisor if safety and sanitation standards are not met.
