Job summary

Denali Universal Services (DUS) is seeking a cook/housekeeper for a remote North Slope camp in Alaska. The role combines housekeeping duties with cooking responsibilities for 20-30 residents, on a 12-hour shift schedule with a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation.

Flights from Anchorage, meals and lodging are provided, and camp housing is supplied during rotations. The position requires prior housekeeping/food service experience, Alaska Food Worker Card, and the ability to live in remote conditions.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Current Alaska Food Worker Card or ability to obtain prior to hire.
• Minimum six (6) months of experience in housekeeping, food service, commercial kitchen operations, or a related environment.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform job duties safely and effectively.
• Willingness and ability to live and work a remote camp setting for the duration of assigned rotations and to share housing/room per established procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote camp environment.
• Reliable access to a smartphone capable of supporting company-required applications for scheduling, timekeeping, communications, and other work-related functions.
• Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and fit-for-duty evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize living quarters, offices, restrooms, shower facilities, laundry areas, hallways, and common spaces.
• Perform routine housekeeping tasks including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, disinfecting, waste removal, and restocking supplies.
• Prepare and cook breakfast meals and baked goods for approximately 20-30 residents.
• Assist the Head Cook with food preparation, meal service, and kitchen operations as assigned.
• Follow standardized recipes, production sheets, portion controls, and food safety requirements.
• Monitor and document food temperatures and take corrective action when required.
• Maintain HACCP and sanitation standards during food preparation, storage, and service.
• Prepare salads, snacks, nourishments, and other menu items according to established guidelines.
• Set up and replenish serving lines, salad bars, and dining areas.
• Transport and stage food safely for meal service.
• Assist with inventory, receiving, storage, and stock rotation activities as assigned.
• Support dishwashing, kitchen sanitation, and cleaning activities.
• Deliver professional and courteous customer service to residents, guests, clients, and coworkers.
• Promote a positive team environment through cooperation, communication, and accountability.
