Job summary

Sprezzatura is seeking an experienced Business Process Engineer / Service Designer to support a modernized financial and budget application for a federal client.

You will analyze current processes, design optimized future-state workflows, and create service blueprints guiding platform configuration and development. The role collaborates with analysts, stakeholders, and engineers to ensure implementation-ready designs that simplify and standardize work.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in Business Process Engineering, Service Design, BPM, or related disciplines.
• Experience designing future-state processes and workflow-driven solutions.
• Hands-on experience developing process models, workflow diagrams, and service blueprints.
• Experience applying BPMN or similar structured modeling methods.
• Ability to translate complex operations into clear, implementation-ready designs.
• Experience facilitating process-discovery and future-state workshops.
• Experience identifying opportunities for simplification, standardization, and automation.
• Experience supporting Federal Government programs or modernization initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead business process discovery and design activities through stakeholder interviews, workshops, observation, process walkthroughs, and collaborative design sessions.
• Analyze and document current-state processes, including activities, roles, data interactions, controls, and exceptions.
• Design optimized future-state processes and workflows that address business needs while reducing complexity.
• Develop detailed service blueprints and workflow models as implementation guides for developers.
• Model activities, decision points, approvals, roles, business rules, handoffs, statuses, triggers, dependencies, and escalation paths.
• Apply BPMN and service design techniques to create consistent, implementation-ready artifacts.
• Map interactions among users, processes, data, systems, and services across end-to-end workflows.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts to reflect Federal financial processes, policies, and operational needs.
• Identify opportunities for process simplification and automation; challenge legacy practices.
