Job summary

Thimble Alterations LLC is seeking a skilled independent contractor to alter bridal and formalwear from a home-based studio. You will perform fittings, hemming, and finishing, ensuring precise measurements and timely communications with clients.

Responsibilities include handling diverse garments, maintaining organization for fittings, and delivering high-quality workmanship. Flexible scheduling and opportunity to grow repeat clients are offered.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with bridal and/or women's formalwear alterations.
• Strong garment construction knowledge and precise measuring.
• Machine and hand sewing proficiency.
• Professional communication and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Alter wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, and mother-of-the-bride/groom dresses (hemming, bustle, bodice/waist, straps, cups, zippers).
• Work with structured bridal gowns (multiple layers, lace, beading, linings, boning/tulle).
• Conduct fittings, take precise measurements, and communicate timelines clearly.
• Deliver high-quality finishing and maintain an organized workspace suitable for fittings.
• We also receive requests for prom dresses, evening gowns, cocktail dresses, suits, and other formalwear.
