Job summary

Ascension Press is seeking a meticulous Bookkeeper to ensure accurate accounting operations and timely financial reporting. You will manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general bookkeeping activities, collaborating with the Finance team.

Reporting to the Director of Finance & Accounting, you will maintain records, process transactions, and support monthly close and audits. Occasional travel to Ascension’s HQ is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or 3+ years bookkeeping experience.
• Familiarity with GAAP principles and financial recordkeeping.
• Experience with vendor records, POs, and expense processing preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices, reimbursements, and other payable transactions accurately and on time.
• Maintain vendor records, tax documentation, purchase orders, and supporting records.
• Review invoices and purchase orders for accuracy, proper coding, and required approvals.
• Prepare vendor payments for authorized approval and processing per procedures and controls.
• Process and reconcile company credit card transactions with proper documentation and approvals.
• Research and resolve vendor inquiries, invoice discrepancies, and payment issues.
• Process customer invoices, payments, and receipts; reconcile with accounting and sales systems.
• Monitor accounts receivable aging; follow up on outstanding balances and support collections.
• Resolve billing and payment issues with Customer Support and other departments.
• Maintain customer tax-exemption documentation and records (Avalara).
• Prepare assigned account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
