Job summary

CFS, a construction company in Plainville, CT, is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join the team and work closely with the owner. This role offers a hands-on environment where you will impact the business and wear multiple hats.

You will process union payroll through Paychex Flex, manage accounts receivable, and prepare certified payrolls while supporting HR and project coordination. Flexible to work from home with occasional on-site involvement.

Qualifications

• Previous bookkeeping, accounting, or payroll experience.
• Experience with accounts receivable and general bookkeeping.
• Union payroll and certified payroll experience preferred; Familiarity with Paychex Flex is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities.
• Construction industry experience is a plus.
• Notary Public certification is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Process and submit union payroll through Paychex Flex.
• Prepare and manage certified payrolls.
• Complete union benefit submissions.
• Manage accounts receivable.
• Maintain accurate bookkeeping and financial records.
• Assist with HR document management.
• Support simple project coordination and other administrative needs as they arise.
• Provide financial and administrative support directly to the owner.
