Job summary

OPAL Fuels is seeking a Reliability Engineer with 10+ years of experience to guide fleet reliability across our Biogas operations. The role is remote with travel to facilities nationwide (up to 50%), reporting to the Director of BioGas Operations.

You will own reliability programs, mechanical integrity, and proactive maintenance to reduce downtime and improve asset performance. Ideal candidates have a mechanical/engineering background, strong experience with rotating and fixed equipment, and the

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related). Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of demonstrated industrial reliability engineering experience in RNG, RNG/biogas, or related industries.
• Experience supporting rotating and fixed equipment across multiple facilities and managing flammable gases.
• Ability to travel up to 50% and collaborate with operations and maintenance teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead fleet reliability and asset performance improvement initiatives.
• Own unplanned event reduction and production loss elimination programs.
• Lead root cause analyses and corrective action implementation efforts.
• Develop preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance strategies.
• Establish mechanical integrity standards for critical operating assets.
• Develop equipment criticality rankings and spare parts strategies.
• Monitor equipment health through fleet reliability review processes.
• Lead outage planning, execution support, and performance reviews.
• Support risk management, PHA, MOC, and alarm programs.
• Develop reliability metrics, dashboards, and performance reporting systems.
