Job summary

OCHIN is a nonprofit leader in healthcare innovation providing revenue cycle and patient financial services to OBS member clinics. The Billing Specialist works primarily on acute care, handling self-pay accounts and claims with accuracy and strong customer service in a fully remote role.

Ideal candidates bring rural hospital billing experience, self-pay expertise, and familiarity with Medicare/Medicaid billing; Epic experience is highly preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in billing and revenue cycle management for healthcare.
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance billing processes.
• Rural hospital billing experience and self-pay processing preferred.
• Experience with acute care hospital billing workflows.
• FQHC/RHC experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process claims and manage accounts receivable in compliance with payer guidelines.
• Investigate denials and trends to improve reimbursement outcomes.
• Communicate billing requirements with internal teams and clients.
• Track deadlines and plan billing activities for timely completion.
• Apply knowledge of the U.S. healthcare system to billing operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
