Job summary

Aegis Healthcare is seeking a detail-focused Billing Specialist for its Home Health and Hospice programs in the Phoenix area. The role covers claims processing, payer rule application, and end-to-end revenue cycle tasks to ensure timely payments and accurate postings.

The ideal candidate has at least three years of home health or hospice billing experience, excellent problem-solving skills, and proficiency with electronic health records and clearinghouses.

Qualifications

• At least three years of hands-on home health or hospice billing and revenue cycle experience.
• Working knowledge of Medicare Part A, Medicaid, managed care or commercial payer billing.
• Proficiency with an electronic health record, clearinghouse or Medicare billing portal.

Responsibilities

• Own assigned home health and hospice billing queues from eligibility through final claim, payment, and account closure.
• Prepare, submit, and track Medicare notices (NOAs, NOEs, NOTRs) and resolve errors before deadlines.
• Submit initial, interim, final, adjustment, and corrected claims; verify visits, dates, codes, units, authorizations, and attachments.
• Check for required billing elements and documentation status; route deficiencies to the responsible team.
• Monitor submission status and escalate missing or late items to the quality team.
• Investigate and resolve clearinghouse and payer edits, rejections, denials, and payment discrepancies.
• Post and reconcile payments, remittances, contractual adjustments, and patient balances; investigate unapplied cash.
