Job summary

BLN24 is seeking a Senior Back End Web Developer to design, build, and optimize the back-end services behind CFPB RegTech applications. The role emphasizes Scala, Akka, CQRS, and containerized microservices deployed with Kubernetes in a modern API-centric environment.

Ideal candidates will have 8+ years of backend experience, strong SQL/NoSQL skills, and a track record of implementing robust data access layers and comprehensive tests within Agile teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend development experience.
• Proficiency with Scala, Akka, reactive programming and actor concurrency.
• Experience in CQRS and event-driven architecture.
• Strong SQL/NoSQL query optimization (PostgreSQL, Cassandra/AWS Keyspaces).
• ORM experience with Slick or similar library.
• APIs handling complex JSON payloads.
• Unit and integration testing experience.
• Containerized microservices with Docker and Kubernetes.
• GitHub for source control and planning.
• Bachelor's in CS; Master's preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain back-end services with Scala and Akka.
• Build components of a CQRS, event-driven architecture.
• Optimize database queries across SQL and NoSQL stores.
• Implement data access layers using ORM tools.
• Build and optimize APIs handling complex JSON payloads.
• Write unit and integration tests for end-to-end APIs.
• Develop containerized microservices for Docker and Kubernetes.
• Collaborate with architects, frontend developers and product owners in Agile teams.
