Whatnot is hiring a Backend Engineer for the Seller Growth Platform to scale identity verification, fraud detection, and trust systems. You will build scalable infrastructure and collaborate with Data Science and Trust teams to support thousands of new sellers weekly.

You should bring 5+ years of software engineering experience, proficiency in Python/Elixir/JavaScript, and a strong sense of product instinct.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience building scalable systems using Python, Elixir, and JavaScript.
• Ability to work across the stack (backend and frontend).
• Strong product instincts and shipping features quickly.

Responsibilities

• Design and build critical systems for the Seller Growth Platform.
• Develop identity verification, fraud detection, and trust/risk reviews.
• Contribute to scalable infrastructure and reusable trust systems.
• Collaborate with Data Science and Trust teams on platform intelligence.
• Drive long-term seller success with value- and risk-based bucketing.
