Job summary

Garner Health is seeking a Backend Engineer II to join our fully remote team. You will design, develop, and maintain backend services powering core healthcare operations while participating in on-call rotations and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable features.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of Python experience, proficiency with microservices, AWS, Kubernetes, and SQL databases, and thrives in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of industry experience developing and maintaining scalable software applications.
• Proficient in Python programming language.
• Experience building both event-driven and request-driven microservices architectures.
• Strong understanding of AWS services and cloud infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with SQL databases.
• Experience deploying, supporting, and operating applications on Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with Agile development practices within cross-functional teams.
• Willingness to contribute to team success through hands-on involvement.
• Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Authorization to work legally in the United States; Garner does not sponsor visas at this time.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services that power Garner’s core business operations.
• Participate in an on-call rotation, responding promptly to system outages and support escalations from internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create technical designs, provide work estimates, and address technical queries.
• Ensure user privacy and security by adhering to best practices and compliance standards.
• Design scalable solutions with a focus on long-term sustainability while delivering features iteratively.
• Ideate and develop new features, leveraging data insights to inform product enhancements.
• Research and incorporate the latest tools, technologies, and industry best practices into development workflows.
• Work collaboratively within our tech stack, contributing to continuous improvement and innovation.
