Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a Backend Engineer to support the development of an advanced network simulation platform. The role centers on building and maintaining backend services, designing scalable RESTful APIs, and collaborating with cross-functional teams while working remotely in the EST time zone.

Responsibilities include orchestrating virtualized network nodes with QEMU and libvirt, delivering robust APIs, and advancing automation and infrastructure-as-code workflows to improve performance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field with 4+ years of backend software development experience.
• Strong programming experience in Python and/or Go, with expertise in designing and maintaining RESTful APIs.
• Hands-on experience with Linux systems programming and virtualization technologies such as QEMU, libvirt, and Docker.
• Familiarity with networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, routing and switching.
• Experience with GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software development practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services for orchestrating virtualized network nodes and simulation environments using technologies like QEMU and libvirt.
• Design and build scalable RESTful APIs for user interaction with complex network topologies
• Support network automation and infrastructure-as-code workflows, optimizing platform performance and reliability
