Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking a Solutions Architect Principal to lead the Azure cloud strategy for the VA program. This 100% U.S.-based remote, full-time role focuses on designing secure, scalable Azure solutions that meet government standards and enterprise objectives.

You will guide bid/proposal efforts, coordinate technical staff, and work with the enterprise architect to ensure compliant, cost-effective deployments while mentoring engineers and delivering on deadlines.

Qualifications

• Proven track record with designing, deploying, and managing Azure infrastructure and services.
• Experience building high-availability, scalable cloud architectures.
• Hands-on with Azure services including VMs, Storage, SQL DB, VNet, Functions, Azure AD, ARM, Monitor, and DNS.
• Experience implementing Azure security services and best practices (Entra ID, DDoS Protection, Firewall, Defender for Cloud, WAF).
• Strong understanding of Azure networking, including VNet peering, ExpressRoute, VPN Gateway, Private Link, and hybrid connectivity.
• Familiar with multi-subscription governance using Management Groups, Policy, and Landing Zones.
• Knowledge of cloud cost management, budgeting, optimization, and governance strategies.
• Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, Azure CLI, and automation frameworks.
• Experience with monitoring and observability using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, App Insights, and SIEM tools.
• Familiar with HIPAA, GDPR, PCI DSS, and industry standards for cloud security and compliance.
• Experience encrypting and managing keys with Azure Key Vault and Entra ID.
• Knowledge of Azure data services (SQL DB, Cosmos DB, Synapse, Data Lake).
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Azure Pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of a complete Azure-based solution proposal meeting all requirements.
• Collaborate with BD, capture, proposal, and team members to optimize proposals.
• Identify staff needs for Pre-Bid and B&P activities and coordinate staffing.
• Coordinate assignment of technical personnel to proposal efforts.
• Provide guidance to teams to meet objectives and policies.
• Design, implement, and govern secure, scalable Azure cloud architectures.
• Ensure solutions align with enterprise standards, security, and cost controls.
• Mentor engineers and cross-functional teams and drive delivery aligned to timelines.
