Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (AWS Data Engineer) II to lead a healthcare data platform modernization from MSSQL XML to a scalable AWS data architecture. You will enable SQL-based reporting for stakeholders and collaborate with back-end engineers to ensure data flows into the new data layer.

The role requires extensive AWS data services experience, strong SQL skills, and ability to design durable data models.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software or data engineering with a strong AWS focus.
• Experience migrating cloud data platforms in production environments, preferably healthcare.
• Ability to evaluate AWS data services to meet reporting and query needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead healthcare data platform modernization on AWS.
• Architect migration from MSSQL XML object store to AWS with scalable storage.
• Design reporting layer for SQL querying by business users.
• Maintain AWS data catalog, schemas, and metadata.
• Collaborate with C#/.Net engineers on data pipelines.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for data infra.
• Apply IaC practices using CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
• Document architecture decisions and data dictionaries clearly.
