Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a fully remote Aviation Safety Officer to lead the Safety Management System (SMS) across global operations. You will conduct risk analyses, manage incident investigations, and drive training to foster a proactive safety culture while ensuring compliance with ICAO and local regulations.

You will collaborate with teams worldwide from your chosen location, leveraging strong data analytics and remote communication to influence safety standards at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Safety Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 7 years in aviation safety management.
• In-depth knowledge of SMS principles and regulatory frameworks (e.g., ICAO, SACAA).
• Experience in safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills for a remote role.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the Aviation Safety Management System (SMS) in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Conduct thorough risk assessments and hazard analyses to proactively identify potential safety risks.
• Lead and manage investigations into aviation safety incidents, accidents, and occurrences, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to promote a robust safety culture among all personnel.
• Monitor safety performance through data analysis and KPIs, reporting findings to senior management.
• Stay abreast of evolving aviation safety regulations, best practices, and industry trends.
