Placements24 is seeking a Remote Automotive Technical Writer to produce clear manuals, service guides, specs, and online help for automotive products. This fully remote role requires translating complex automotive tech for end-users, technicians and internal teams.

You will collaborate with engineers and product managers, maintain documentation across print, web and in-app help, follow style guides, manage projects, and update docs with product changes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in automotive or related tech industry.
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading with strong English grammar and style.
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.

Responsibilities

• Research, write, edit, and maintain technical docs (user guides, installation manuals, troubleshooting procedures).
• Collaborate with engineers, PMs, and SMEs to ensure technical accuracy.
• Develop content for print, web, and in-app help systems.
• Adhere to style guides, terminology standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage documentation projects including planning, scheduling, reviews, and approvals.
• Update documentation to reflect product changes and new features.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Remote Automotive Technical Writer to produce clear, concise, and accurate documentation for their automotive products and services. In this fully remote role, you will be responsible for creating user manuals, service guides, technical specifications, and online help content. Your ability to translate complex technical information into easily understandable language for various audiences, including end-users, technicians, and internal teams, will be essential. This position offers the flexibility of remote work while contributing to the clarity and usability of automotive technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Research, write, edit, and maintain a variety of technical documentation, including user guides, installation manuals, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, and product managers to gather information and ensure technical accuracy.
• Develop content for different platforms, such as print, web, and in-app help systems.
• Ensure documentation adheres to company style guides, terminology standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage documentation projects, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating reviews and approvals.
• Update existing documentation to reflect product changes, software updates, and new features.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Technical Writer , preferably within the automotive or related technology industry.
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a strong command of English grammar and style.
• Ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
• Proficiency with technical writing tools and software (e.g., MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, or similar).
• Experience working with source control systems (e.g., Git) and content management systems.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a remote environment.
