Job summary

Ascendo Resources seeks an Automation Engineering Lead to oversee the development, integration, and deployment of high-speed automated assembly and test systems. You will provide technical leadership from concept to site handoff, coordinating with suppliers, manufacturing sites, and cross-functional teams.

The role requires 10+ years in automation and strong expertise across mechanical, electrical, controls, and software for high-volume manufacturing.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering.
10+ years of hands-on experience in automation equipment design, integration, installation, or manufacturing engineering.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, controls, software, and automated manufacturing systems.
Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
Experience in high-volume manufacturing; electronics/healthcare/life sciences preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of automated assembly and test systems.
Develop equipment specifications, URS requirements, concepts, layouts, and qualification plans.
Lead equipment quoting and collaborate with suppliers and procurement teams.
Partner with manufacturing sites to support installation, troubleshooting, ramp-up, and continuous improvement.
Drive improvements in downtime, scrap, throughput, and OEE.
Provide technical leadership on complex, multi-site automation projects.
Research emerging automation technologies and identify opportunities for improvement.
Collaborate on RFQs, DFM, product design, equipment design, and engineering transfers.
Apply Lean Six Sigma principles to manufacturing and automation projects.
Ensure projects meet applicable safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
