Job summary

LMI Government Consulting seeks an ATAK Plugin Developer to design, build, and deploy mission-critical ATAK plugins for tactical edge environments, with an emphasis on secure, low‑bandwidth operation and seamless integration with TAK Server.

The role focuses on edge ML, geospatial visualization, and robust API integrations, requiring DoD cybersecurity awareness, active clearance, and experience delivering Android plugins for demanding government workloads.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of software development experience
• 2+ years of Android platform experience (Kotlin/Java)
• Edge computing concepts and resource optimization on low-powered devices
• API integration and secure software architectures
• Military systems knowledge for aTAK/TAK
• DoD cybersecurity guidelines and RMF/STIG familiarity
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills
• Ability to work independently and in teams
• Active Secret clearance (or ability to obtain one)
• Experience with CI/CD, containers (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud deployments

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver ATAK plugins for field environments
• Enable Edge MLOps workflows and on-device ML for real-time decision support
• Work with geospatial data and real-time location services to improve visualization
• Support TAK Server integration and data exchange between mobile apps and central servers
• Optimize software for low-resource devices in contested environments
• Implement robust REST, WebSocket, and gRPC integrations
• Troubleshoot complex integration challenges with intermittent connectivity
• Ensure DoD-compliant security and STIG alignment
• Document designs, workflows and deployment processes
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and military stakeholders
