Job summary

Empath Health is seeking an experienced Associate General Counsel to provide strategic legal guidance across a mission-driven healthcare organization. This role focuses on healthcare regulatory matters, corporate transactions, compliance initiatives, and risk management.

This remote position requires occasional travel (4-6 times per year). Florida Bar membership is preferred, or eligibility to obtain Florida Authorized House Counsel status.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school with active bar membership.
• Florida Bar membership preferred, or eligibility for Florida Authorized House Counsel status.
• Significant experience in healthcare law and regulatory matters.
• Ability to draft, negotiate, and manage a broad range of contracts and transactions.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal guidance on healthcare regulatory, compliance, and corporate matters.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage contracts and business transactions.
• Advise leadership on legal risks and practical, business-focused solutions.
• Ensure organizational compliance with federal and state healthcare laws and regulations.
• Support governance, policy development, investigations, and dispute resolution.
• Monitor legal developments affecting healthcare operations.
