Job summary

Community.co is seeking a full-time Associate Editor to join our fast-paced, fully remote team. You will edit 15+ pieces, coach writers, and ensure adherence to partner style guides while maintaining high editorial standards.

You’ll work with our Managing Editor and Director of Content, helping stories from fintech to healthcare reach a professional audience of business leaders, founders, and executives in a remote environment.

Qualifications

• One or more years’ POST-COLLEGE professional copy editing, journalism or editorial experience covering business topics including technology, finance, management and/or marketing.
• Impeccable grammar, spelling and communication skills are a must.
• Solid understanding and experience with AP Style and web publishing.
• Basic HTML knowledge (h2s, links, etc.)
• Experience with WordPress or similar content management system.
• Professional, courteous and solution‑focused approach to interpersonal communication and author feedback is a MUST.

Responsibilities

• Editor completes a thorough content review of 15+ pieces of content adhering to various partners’ style guides, often on very tight deadlines.
• Provide detailed feedback to writers when necessary and ensure high editorial standards.
• Exercise independent judgment in determining whether to move forward with a developmental copy edit of if the member will need to provide additional content.
• Identify and fix any copy or production errors before finalizing content. Verify consistency in tone, style, and formatting across all articles.
• Regularly report status updates to the Director of Content, flagging any issues or roadblocks.
• Deliver content to media partners via content management systems on or before deadlines.
• Update and manage the editorial queue.
• Track and oversee article publication links and compile metrics reports (number of articles edited, published, etc.).
• Interacting with busy members regarding their submissions in a professional, courteous and helpful way.
• Manage production pipeline in a way that utilizes proactive independent judgment on which tasks to prioritize first in order while also conforming to established techniques and procedures to move an article through the publishing process.
