Job summary

Cahaba Media Group (CMG) is seeking an Associate Editor for HomeCare to edit print and digital articles, and help build a monthly magazine across print and online formats.

The candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in journalism or English, have 1–2 years of writing/editing experience, be familiar with AP style, and know InDesign and WordPress. Remote work is supported; some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications or a related field
• 1–2 years of relevant work experience or internship
• Some copy editing, reporting and/or writing experience
• Familiar with AP style
• Experience with InDesign and WordPress or similar CMS
• Comfortable collaborating and working remotely
• Able to write and report on complex topics and learn industry ins and outs

Responsibilities

• Assign and perform detailed copy editing on print and digital articles for HomeCare magazine, website and newsletters
• Report, gather and write copy for newsletters four to five times a week and assist with production
• Be part of a team building a monthly magazine in both print and digital formats
• Coordinate with editor in chief and rest of the team on editorial direction for the magazine and digital products
• Write in-house bylines and other content as needed
• Find press announcements and industry news for usage and article leads
• Assist with social media
• Coordinate and compile regular magazine sections including industry news and longform content
• Conduct website SEO tagging and archive work
• Conduct client outreach as requested by sales team
• Attend in-person (some travel required) and virtual trade shows and conferences for various industry organizations
• Other responsibilities as needed
