Job summary

Merck is seeking a Thought Leader Marketing Liaison (Associate Director) for the US Immunology team focused on Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). This role ensures advocacy development, speaker program management, and congress engagement align with brand objectives and compliance.

Responsibilities include engaging with scientific leaders, building a US IBD Speaker Bureau, and coordinating cross-functional activities with strict governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• 5–8 years in pharmaceutical sales, marketing, or field medical engagement or KOL management roles.
• Minimum 5 years as a Thought Leader Liaison or Regional Marketing strongly preferred.
• At least 3 years of IBD experience with existing KOL networks.
• Demonstrated success in building scientific relationships in a regulated environment.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Travel up to 60% (including weekends and evenings).

Responsibilities

• Identify and map national and regional scientific leaders, clinicians, and experts in US IBD landscape.
• Develop advocacy for key opinion leaders on messages, product positioning, and medical education content.
• Execute engagements with SLs (congress activities, site visits, advisory boards).
• Gather actionable insights from SLs to inform marketing strategies.
• Provide real-time insights from KOLs on business questions and topics.
• Support development of educational content from KOL input.
• Collaborate with marketing to determine conference participation and support.
• Develop and manage a US IBD Speaker Bureau, onboarding and training.
• Ensure compliant, cross-functional collaboration and governance.
