Job summary

Biogen, Inc. is seeking an Associate Director, Country & Site Operations (CSO) to lead a global team delivering clinical operations across multiple countries. You will manage CCSLs, Site Managers, and Site Feasibility staff, ensuring high-quality execution, sponsor oversight, and inspection readiness.

You will develop talent, allocate resources, and partner with CTDU, Worldwide Medical, QA, and CRO/FSP partners to drive performance. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in clinical research, clinical development, or clinical operations.
• Experience managing clinical trial activities and sponsor oversight in outsourced, CRO, FSP, or hybrid delivery models is required.
• Demonstrated experience leading people and/or matrix teams, including coaching, talent development, performance management, workload planning, and delivery oversight, is required.
• Experience partnering with global study teams, affiliates, Medical, Development, Quality, monitoring teams, site feasibility teams, and external partners is expected.
• Strong judgment, problem-solving, communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills in a complex matrix environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct line management for CCSLs, Site Managers, and Site Feasibility team members as needed.
• Build CCSL, Site Manager, and Site Feasibility team capability through onboarding and development.
• Allocate CCSLs across country and study portfolios and monitor workload.
• Oversee the quality and consistency of CCSL delivery, including country/site intelligence and Sponsor Oversight Visits.
• Guide CCSLs in translating insights into practical recommendations for planning and study execution.
• Serve as escalation and decision-support for CCSLs on country, site, investigator, data integrity, patient safety, and quality concerns.
• Partner with CMLs, Site Managers, study teams, affiliates, CROs, and FSP organizations to clarify roles and ensure delivery.
• Track team objectives, performance, and portfolio risks; support workforce, resource, and budget planning.
• Lead or contribute to CSO operating-model, process-improvement, and change initiatives; represent CSO in cross-functional forums.
• Travel ~10% may be required.
