Job summary

Software Guidance & Assistance is seeking a Data Engineer to build and maintain reports and ETL pipelines. You will work with Access databases, SQL Server, and Tableau to deliver actionable insights and dashboards for business stakeholders.

The role requires a related degree or equivalent experience, 3+ years in the field (or 1.5 years in an Associate Data Engineer role), and hands-on Posit/R and SSIS expertise. Florida-based office with collaboration across IT and business teams.

Qualifications

• Experience with Posit/R and SSIS is required.
• Experience building reports and data pipelines is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain custom reports and data files from multiple Access databases to support decision-making.
• Oversee daily operation of mission-critical departmental reporting for metrics.
• Design and develop ETL solutions using Toad, SQL Server procedures, functions or views.
• Translate business needs into data elements in Access databases and data marts for reporting.
• Create and maintain dashboards and data sources in Tableau and other tools.
• Prepare reports and presentations documenting analyses for stakeholders.
• Identify root causes of trends and performance gaps and implement improvements.
• Perform exploratory data analysis, data cleansing, and data visualization.
• Transition existing SSIS ETL pipelines to Posit and R.

Responsibilities

• We work across IT and business teams to build and maintain custom reports and data files from multiple Access databases and tables, helping business owners support decision-making through comprehensive analysis.
• We oversee the creation and day-to-day operation of mission-critical departmental reporting for metric results.
• We design and develop ETL solutions using Toad, SQL Server stored procedures, functions, views, or similar tools.
• We translate business needs into data elements in Access databases and other data marts to source, extract, match, and modify data for reporting.
• We create and maintain custom dashboards and data sources in Tableau and other reporting tools, and we extract and aggregate data as needed.
• We prepare reports and presentations that document analyses and help key stakeholders understand the business impact.
• We identify, investigate, and document root causes of trends, issues, and performance gaps, then recommend and implement improvements.
• We perform exploratory data analysis, data cleansing, and data visualization using data mining tools.
• We transition existing SSIS ETL pipelines to Posit and R.
