Overview
This role focuses on building and supporting modern data platforms that enable reliable reporting, analytics, and decision-making. The Data Engineer designs, develops, and maintains data pipelines, storage solutions, and integration patterns using cloud-based technologies. This position works closely with engineering, analytics, and business teams to ensure data is accurate, accessible, and scalable.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain data pipelines that ingest, transform, and deliver data from multiple sources including databases, APIs, and files
- Develop and optimize data models to support analytics, reporting, and downstream consumption
- Integrate data from disparate systems into centralized data stores such as data warehouses or data lakes
- Implement data validation and quality checks to ensure consistency and reliability
- Monitor, tune, and improve pipeline performance and scalability
- Support cloud-based data platforms and analytics environments
- Collaborate with application and platform teams to design efficient data integration patterns
- Participate in CI/CD and DataOps practices including version control, code reviews, and deployment pipelines
- Document data pipelines, schemas, and processes to support maintainability and knowledge sharing
- Contribute to modernization efforts focused on treating data as a reusable, well-governed product
- Work within Agile delivery teams and contribute to iterative development cycles
Technical Environment
- Cloud data services and storage platforms
- ETL / ELT frameworks and orchestration tools
- Relational and analytical databases
- Data modeling (dimensional and relational)
- CI/CD tooling and source control
- SQL and at least one general‑purpose programming language (Python, Java, Scala, or similar)
Required Experience
- Several years of hands‑on experience building data pipelines and database solutions in an enterprise environment
- Strong SQL skills with experience in performance tuning and data modeling
- Experience with ETL processes, incremental loading, and data transformations
- Familiarity with cloud‑based data platforms and security concepts
- Experience working with structured and semi‑structured data formats (such as JSON)
- Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance fundamentals
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical or related field, or equivalent experience
Preferred Experience
- Experience with modern analytics or BI tools
- Exposure to streaming or event‑driven data architectures
- Experience migrating legacy data systems to cloud platforms
- Familiarity with data lake or lakehouse design patterns
