GEICO Staff Counsel in Fairfax, VA is seeking an Associate Counsel to defend lawsuits filed in Virginia courts and other first party insurance defense matters. This position supports litigation across a range of cases and sits within GEICO’s well‑established legal team.

The ideal candidate will have a JD, admission to the Virginia Bar, 2–6+ years of defense litigation experience, excellent research and writing skills, and the ability to travel as needed.

Qualifikationen

• 2-6+ years of experience in related field litigation experience on insurance/defense/personal injury REQUIRED
• Juris Doctor degree REQUIRED
• Admission to the Virginia Bar REQUIRED
• Must be licensed in good standing to practice law in Virginia and meet licensing requirements including CLE as applicable
• Must be able to travel as required for trials, hearings, depositions, meetings and conferences

Aufgaben

• Researching laws and preparing legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda
• Rendering opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department
• Preparing and handling pleadings, motions, and discovery, including depositions/examinations before trial and examinations under oath, and defending by trial or dispositive hearing
